Hike on Owens Loop 9/18/10

Hike on the red hill east of Diagonal Road. The view was beautiful. Janean is looking toward Ivins. If you look closely you can see our house on Webb Hill a little above the temple.

Remember to Say "Thank You"
There are two special words that we often forget to say, "Thank You". Jesus healed 10 lepers but only one came back to him to tell him thank you. We heard two stories about children who knew how to say thank you. We should tell those around us who do kind things for us thank you. We made thank you notes and gave them to people in our ward.

I Can Show Gratitude
Gratitude means being thankful. We scooped water from a pan into a glass. The glass is us and the scoop of water is something we are thankful for that is filling our lives like the water fills the glass. We learned that we should pray to tell Heavenly Father thanks for all the many things we have in our lives. We should also express gratitude by showing others how thankful we are. We can play with brothers and sisters to show them we are thankful for them. We can hug our parents and grandparents to tell them we are thankful for them. There are many things we can DO to show we are thankful.

Happy Father's Day to our fathers!

Jesus Christ is the Good Shepherd.
Today we pretended to be sheep. We learned how Jesus described his followers as sheep and he the good shepherd. Shepherds lead their sheep and take care of them. The sheep know the shepherd's voice and follow where he leads them. We need to listen to Jesus' voice and follow his example for us.
The Bible tells us what a good shepherd does when a sheep is lost. He goes to find the lost sheep. We found a picture of a sheep that was hidden in our classroom. We can help find Jesus' lost sheep by sharing the gospel with others.

Blessed are the Peacemakers
In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus taught the people many important things, including some ways to make our homes happy. Jesus wants us to be peacemakers. A peacemaker is someone who helps others to be happy. Peace means calmness and happiness, so a peacemaker makes a home a calm and happy place to be.
We learned that we should treat others the way we want to be treated.
Sister Lotz challenged us to try to be peacemakers in our homes this week. She will ask us next week about our experience.

I Can Be Reverent
When we are reverent, it is easier for us to feel Heavenly Father near us. Reference is more than just being quiet, it is a special feeling of love and respect for Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. It is important to have feelings of reverence no matter where we are but it is especially important to be reverent at church. The church is Heavenly Father's house, and when we are reverent at church, Heavenly Father knows that we love him.

We learned how to show reverence with our mouth, eyes, hands and arms, feet and legs, and our ears. We can also help others to be reverent.
